ONE TOOL, MANY EVERYDAYS
From a quick edit to a finished project.
Your essential file tools, in one place.
Write Markdown, edit code, or organize a CSV. Move between source and preview, with tools that suit the file in front of you.
Highlight a passage, add a note, or place your signature. Merge, split, and compress PDFs, then export the result.
Look inside an archive before extracting it. Organize your own file space, or connect through WebDAV, FTP, and SFTP to pick up your work.
THE FULL TOOLKIT
Explore the tools by what you want to do.
Open any item for its capabilities and limits.
Words, data, and specialist documents.
Good to knowLightweight mode disables highlighting, line numbers, full-text search, live previews, and structured formatting. Saving still writes the complete file.
Good to knowThese are source editors with previews, not visual page builders. Live previews depend on the file’s editing mode.
Good to knowData types differ across formats, so review converted results. CSV editing is not Excel workbook editing.
Good to knowCompatibility is limited to the built-in engine. Not every desktop TeX package, template, or complex project is supported.
Good to knowGroundOverlay, NetworkLink, 3D Model, and gx:Track are not rendered; their source is retained. Base maps may need a network connection.
Good to knowSupports core topic trees in newer content.json-based XMind files. Legacy content.xml files, complex relationships, styles, and attachments are not guaranteed to be editable.
Read, refine, and get the result ready to share.
Good to knowPDF support focuses on annotations and page-level changes. It does not include body-text reflow or full form editing.
Good to knowPDF compression re-renders pages; PPTX slides contain images. OFD conversion focuses on text, images, and basic layout, so complex fonts and graphics may be simplified.
Good to knowPNG and JPEG can be saved in place when permitted; other formats generally use copies. Batch conversion and compression may not retain animation or all original metadata.
Good to knowPlayback and export depend on system codec support. SRT subtitles are playback overlays and are not burned into exported MP4 files.
Keep your local files and remote work within reach.
Good to knowDeletes from mounted folders or remote locations do not enter the internal recycle bin. In-place writing depends on the file provider and access permissions.
Good to knowCompatibility depends on the container, compression, and encryption method. Compression creates new archives; it does not edit entries inside an original archive.
Good to knowWebDAV and FTP currently provide reading and import. SFTP deletes are permanent. SSH sessions disconnect when the app enters the background.
Good to knowSharing uses a local HTTP server and requires a mutually reachable network. It is not public cloud storage or a background sync service.
Thoughtful tools for the rest of your day.
Good to knowOffice and CAD are read-only. CAD input is limited to 25 MiB and generated preview data to 64 MiB. ACIS solids, external references, layout viewports, and precise SHX fonts are not fully supported. Database files do not have a SQL query editor.
Good to knowDedicated pagination and read-aloud features are for TXT / TEXT. EPUB uses system previews with a different feature set.
Good to knowStandalone processing tools create new results without overwriting input files. Duplicate and large-file scans produce reports; they do not automatically delete files.
Good to knowThis encryption applies only to content inside private space. Exported decrypted copies and the ordinary file space are outside that protection.
MEET YOUR FILES
Search a file extension to see what you can do with it.
Edit and find/replace text. TXT / TEXT also have a paginated reader and read-aloud mode.
Edit source and preview rendering; export Markdown as HTML or PDF.
Source editing, syntax highlighting, and find/replace; no code compilation or execution.
Edit, validate and format supported types, and convert structured data.
Text and table modes, cell editing, and row/column operations.
Source and formula previews, PDF preview and export; package compatibility is limited.
XML editing and map previews of common geometry; some extensions are not rendered.
Notes, signatures, page tools, compression, OCR, watermarks, and conversion.
Convert to PDF, then annotate and share; complex layouts may be simplified.
Crop, adjust, annotate, convert, compress, and watermark. Saving varies by format.
Play, trim, rotate, mute, and export MP4 when the system supports the codec.
System playback, segment extraction, and conversion, subject to codec support.
Edit canvases and topic trees in newer files; export images, PDF, and outlines.
Browse and extract, including supported encrypted and split archives. Create ZIP, 7Z, and TAR variants.
Read-only system Quick Look previews; no native document editing.
Offline 2D and selected 3D previews with layer controls; no entity editing.
Preview EPUB, 3D files, fonts, contacts, and calendars when supported by the system.
Try a system preview or sampled raw content; no database querying or editing.
No matching formats. Try another keyword or filter, or check the file guide for more details.
LOCAL FIRST. YOURS ALWAYS.
Documents are primarily processed on your device, with an encrypted private space for files you want to keep separate. PatchDoc does not proactively upload their contents to developer servers for storage, analysis, or training.
Read our privacy policyRemote connections and local sharing transfer files when you choose to use them.
PatchDoc is designed for iPhone and iPad running iOS / iPadOS 17.0 or later. Check the App Store listing for current compatibility.
PatchDoc offers a 7-day free trial and a one-time lifetime purchase. See the in-app membership page for the current price. Previous purchases can be restored.
Core editing and preview features for local files work offline. Purchases, restoring purchases, remote connections, KML base maps, and cloud files not yet downloaded require a network connection.
These formats currently offer read-only previews. CSV files have an editable table mode; PDFs support annotations and page tools. CAD drawings can be viewed, but CAD entities cannot be edited.
Saving depends on the format and the file provider’s permissions. The app may save in place, save a copy, or offer Save As. Standalone processing tools export new files. Check the save option in the app before proceeding.
