OFD / PDF

Open an OFD file and convert it to PDF on iPhone

Download the complete .ofd file and open it in PatchDoc. After the preview finishes, choose Convert to PDF from the file menu to create and open a copy in the internal file space. Share PDF can also save a copy to Files or send it to another app.

Before you start

  • PatchDoc and a complete, readable .ofd file. Finish downloading email or chat attachments first.
  • Keep the original OFD for archiving and any workflow that requires the original format.
  • Available storage for the generated PDF. Start with a short document to check compatibility.

Step by step

  1. Download and open the OFD

Save the attachment to Files and select it through PatchDoc’s file picker. Check that it is an actual OFD document; renaming another format to .ofd does not convert it.

  2. Inspect the preview

Wait for preview generation to finish. Check the page count, important numbers and text, images, stamps, and page edges. Redownload incomplete attachments before retrying.

  3. Create a PDF copy

Choose Convert to PDF in the file menu. PatchDoc saves the generated copy in its internal file space and opens it for supported PDF reading and annotation.

  4. Save to your destination

Use Save As in the PDF editor to choose another folder, or use Share PDF from the OFD menu and select Save to Files or a sharing destination.

  5. Reopen and compare

Open the saved PDF from its real destination and compare every page with the original, including text, images, and page count. Keep the OFD source.

Check your result

Keep the original OFD and the checked PDF. Reopen the final saved copy and confirm which format the recipient needs.

Scope and limitations

  • Complex fonts, vector objects, and layouts may render differently or degrade during conversion. Inspect the result before sharing.
  • The conversion creates a PDF copy. It does not authenticate an invoice or verify the original OFD’s digital signatures.
  • A generated preview is separate from saving a PDF to an external folder. Confirm where the copy was actually stored.

Troubleshooting

The OFD does not open

Download the original attachment again and check its size. Test a simple OFD; damaged or complex packages may exceed compatibility.

Text or stamps are missing

Compare against the source and retain the original. Complex fonts and graphics may not convert completely; do not distribute an unchecked copy.

The PDF is missing from Files

Convert to PDF creates the copy inside PatchDoc. Use Save As or Share PDF and Save to Files to select an external folder.

Common questions

Can an OFD invoice become a PDF?

Supported OFD documents can produce a PDF copy. Check amounts, text, stamps, and pages, and keep the OFD for workflows requiring the original.

Can I annotate the converted file?

Yes, with the supported PDF tools. Annotations affect the PDF copy and do not write back into the OFD.
